Sodium Alpha-Olefin Sulfonate (Esther-AOS 92)

Product Description

AOS 92 (Sodium Alpha-Olefin Sulfonate, sodium alpha-olefin Sulfonate) is an anionic surfactant, which is mainly prepared by the sulfonation and neutralization of C14-C18 alpha-olefin, With excellent wettability. emulsification, decontamination and biodegradability, it is widely used in detergents, personal care products and industrial fields. In agriculture, AOS 92 is mainly used as pesticide additives, leaf fertilizer synergists and soil amendments. The following are its specific applications and characteristics:

1.        Highly Effective Additives In Pesticide Preparations

Wetting And Spreading: AOS 92 can significantly reduce the surface tension of the liquid medicine, so that it can quickly wet the crop leaves or pest epidermis, promote the uniform spread of the liquid medicine, and reduce the rolling loss(especially suitable for hydrophobic leaves such as rice and wheat).

Emulsification And Dispersion: In emulsifiers (EC), aqueous emulsions (EW) or suspensions (SC),AOS 92 can be used as an emulsifier or dispersant to help hydrophobic pesticide active ingredients (such as pyrethroids and diazole fungicides) to disperse evenly in the aqueous phase and improve the stability of the preparation.

Efficiency And Penetration: Increase the permeability of the active ingredient of the pesticide by destroying the waxy layer of the pest skin or the leaf surface of the plant, and improve the efficacy (such as the synergist used in the herbicide glyphosate).

2.        Synergist Of Foliar Fertilizer And Nutrient Solution

Quick Absorption: The addition of AOS 92 can reduce the surface tension of the fertilizer solution on the leaf surface, make the nutrient solution quickly adhere to the leaf surface, and enter the plant tissue through stomata or cuticle micro. cracks, and improve the absorption efficiency of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and trace elements

Anti-evaporation and anti-drift:

Under high temperature or dry conditions, AOS 92 reduces droplet evaporation and prevents droplet drift in the wind, ensuring precise fertilizer coverage of the target area.

3.        Soil Improvement And Water-Saving Irrigation

Improve Water Permeability: In arid or compact soils, AOS 92 reduces the surface tension of water, promotes rapid infiltration of water, and reduces surface runoff (suitable for drip irrigation systems addition).

Reduce Pesticide Leaching: By enhancing the adsorption of pesticides on soil colloids, the risk of migration of active ingredients to deeper soils is reduced (e.g. granules used to control underground pests).

4.        Compatibility Additives For Biological Pesticides And Microbial Preparations

Stable Microbial Activity: In preparations containing microorganisms such as bacillus and antinomies, AOS 92 forms a stable micellar environment that protects microorganisms from solvents or extreme pH values and extends shelf life.

Enhanced target attachment:

Helps microbial spores or mycelia adhere uniformly to plant surfaces and promotes colonization (e.g. Trichoderma preparations used to control soil-borne diseases).

5.        Spray Additives(Bucket Mixing Additives)

Optimize Droplet Deposition: When added directly to the liquid as a barrel mixing agent, AOS 92 can adjust the droplet size, reduce drift(especially when the wind is high), and enhance the deposition of the liquid on hydrophobic leaves (such as rice and wheat).

Resistance To Rain Erosion: A rain-resistant adhesive laver is formed on the leaf surface to reduce the loss of liquid medicine.

Key Performance Advantage:

High Wettability: Very low surface tension (<30 mN/m) for fast wetting of hydrophobic surfaces.

Hard Water Resistance: It can maintain good performance in hard water conditions and is suitable for agricultural applications in high salt areas.

Biodegradability: Easy to be decomposed by microorganisms, low risk of environmental residue

Wide pH Adaptability: It can work stably under acidic or alkaline conditions.

Matters Needing Attention:

Compatibility With Cationic Additives: AOS 92 is an anionic surfactant, which may precipitate when mixed with cationic additives (such as quaternary ammonium salts). The stability of the formulation should be verified in advance.

Concentration Control: Too high concentration may cause the viscosity of the liquid to be too large and affect the spray effect

Environmental Safety: Although AOS 92 has good biodegradability, it is still necessary to control the dosage to avoid harm to aquatic life.

Typical application case:

Herbicide Efficiency: The addition of 0.1-0.5% AOS 92 to glyphosate preparations can significantly improve the control effectiveness of difficult weeds (such as beef grass).

Foliar Fertilizer Efficiency: Adding 0.05%-0.2% AOS 92 to urea or potassium dihydrogen phosphate foliar fertilizer can increase the nutrient absorption rate by 20%-30%.

Soil Improvement: Adding 50-100 ppm AOS 92 to a drip irrigation system can improve water permeability and reduce irrigation water use by 10-15%.
